A mortar and pestle carved from a single solid piece of Tunisian olive wood, hand-turned and finished. The thick-walled, organically rounded bowl and the short, easy-grip pestle show off the warm honey-brown grain with its characteristic dark burl speckles.

Olive wood is dense and hard-wearing: ideal for crushing fresh pepper, salt, herbs, garlic and spices, or working up pestos and pastes. Hand-oiled rather than lacquered, it takes on neither odours nor colours. Available in three sizes (Ø 8, 10 and 12 cm) — from a small spice mortar to a generous kitchen bowl.

Details & Care

Solid Tunisian olive wood, hand-smoothed and finished with a food-safe oil. Grain and shape vary naturally from piece to piece.

Wash by hand with warm water, dry at once and stand it on edge — never in the dishwasher. Oil occasionally with a food-safe care oil (e.g. mineral or walnut oil, not olive oil) to keep the wood alive.
